Last night I went to see Melissa McCarthy’s new movie ‘Spy’.
With out giving too much away, it’s about an adorably timid (insanely hilarious, may I add) secret agent who lives in the shadow of all her super slick spy colleagues. She spends her life guiding them through out their exciting missions in an earpiece whilst she stays cooked up in the mouse riddled CIA basement, where people still think she’s the dinner lady.
She eventually decides it’s finally time she goes completely out of her comfort zone, ignores all the doubters who laugh at her bold movement and takes on a challenging position as an undercover spy. And the result? She absolutely KILLS it, becomes a whole new confident woman and the most respected spy in the CIA. Her victory may even result in Miranda Hart flying a helicopter with 50 Cent. Yup… Anything can happen.
This got me thinking: Why should we settle for a mediocre life when there is so much more to offer?
There are so many incredible opportunities thrown at us every day, but we may not always see them because we’re too stuck in our same old routine. Either that – or we simply turn them down there and then in the fear of change, because staying in our bubble wrapped comfort zone is just so much easier than taking a chance and living that bigger life.
But where is the excitement in that? Maybe it’s time we started saying YES to new adventures with out worrying about the outcome or what people might say so we can really make our visions our reality.
Now I’m not advising you to take on a new career as a killer CIA agent, but I am saying it’s time you started that ‘thing’ you have always wanted to do. It could be the something as simple as taking up a new class at the gym, starting a blog, going traveling or even giving your style a lil revamp. Every one has something they’d like to achieve and there is absolutely no one stopping them from doing so, other than themselves.
Starting from now, I want you to embrace the change, do something that takes you out of your comfort zone and always open the doors that are presented to you each day. Whatever you choose to do might not always work out, but if we all shoved our ideas out of the fear of it going wrong – then how are we ever going to grow in life?
And if you’re concerned about what people around you might be thinking – the chances are they will admire you for doing something different and you may even inspire them to do the same! If there are any haters who try to put you down then they are not worthy of your time, or worries. It’s that simple.
On a final note, if you’re ever feeling at all doubtful about your actions or capabilities – then just say to yourself:
‘‘If Miranda can feature in a Hollywood movie with 50 Cent, then I can do absolutely anything.”
